Matter & Evidence Organisation
“I have all the information, but it is a mess.” ESLC helps turn scattered documents, emails and messages into an organised file you can understand and use.
When this helps
- You have hundreds of messages and emails and cannot tell which ones matter.
- You struggle to explain what happened in order.
- Your documents are spread across your phone, inbox and a box of papers.
- You are about to see an attorney, attend a meeting or start a negotiation.
- You need to hand the matter to another professional and want it to be clear.
- Correspondence, records and supporting documents
- Relevant emails and WhatsApp or other message records
- Evidence, structured by date and topic
- Timelines and chronologies of events
- Factual summaries of the matter
- A list of information gaps to fill
- Documents prepared for a consultation or meeting
- A referral or handover pack for an attorney

Practical guides and checklists
How to prepare for a legal consultation
A practical checklist: which documents to bring, how to summarise what happened, and the questions worth asking.
Preparing Your Legal MatterWhat is a legal chronology?
A dated, sourced list of events is the fastest way to make a complicated matter understandable. Here is how to build one.
Questions about organising a matter
What is legal matter organisation?
It is the work of gathering the documents, messages and records relating to a legal matter and arranging them so that the facts are clear: sorted by date and topic, with a timeline, a summary and a note of what is missing.
Should I organise my evidence before seeing a lawyer?
It usually helps. An organised file makes a consultation more efficient, because time is spent on your options rather than on sorting papers. ESLC can do this preparation with you.
Can you help with WhatsApp messages and emails?
Yes. ESLC can help identify which messages and emails are relevant and arrange them in date order with the other records. Keep the originals on your phone or computer; do not delete anything.
Do I need to send all my documents with my first enquiry?
No, please do not. Start with a brief description. ESLC will tell you what to bring or send once the scope of the work has been agreed.
ESLC provides consultancy and support services. It is not engaged as a practising attorneys’ firm through this website. Court appearances, formal legal representation and work reserved for practising legal practitioners fall outside the ESLC consultancy mandate. Where a matter needs that kind of help, ESLC will say so and can help you prepare for it.
Bring order to your matter
Start with a consultation. ESLC will look at what you have, agree what needs organising, and quote for it before any work begins.
